I joined Frayed Edges textile group 12 years ago at its inception. I have exhibited four times: Felt and Nostalgia, Inspired by Print, Japan/ wabi sabi and Identity.
We are a brilliantly diverse set of women. Many have developed full professional artistic practices. Others, like me, are egged on by their ambition and vision to develop our work and produce exhibition pieces. I find it sheer slog and I groan my way through each required stage. And finally amaze myself! My attachment to the group is through our long friendships and my love of every sort of thread, Starting at age seven I happily learned crochet, sewing, embroidery and knitting. This year I have learned basic rigid heddle weaving. Hence my piece” Monk’s Habit”.
