jeanette sendler

Born in Berlin and trained as a ladies’ tailor, Jeanette Sendler worked in theatre and opera companies, including the Comic Opera in Berlin and Opera Australia in Sydney.
After completing her Masters in Costume and Performance Art in Edinburgh, she worked with a variety of artists and performers to increase the appreciation of costume through performance art productions.

She went on to work with communities across Scotland as well as developing her own practice, and she has been involved in a number of residencies, the latest of which took her to Newburgh, where she settled.

She continues to design and make hats from her dedicated millinery studio in Perth alongside running Big Cat Textiles, housed in her renovated Church in Newburgh which invites fibre artists from around the world to run Master classes
